I am checking the blog daily so I will KNOW when you have added yourself as a follower. Come on now.

I'm waiting for some information from BMC about the current Big/Lil Sis program so I can update you on how they are doing it now. Will get that on soon.

PLUS, I already have a message from a Big Sis to her Lil Sis!

Hey, Lori--

Thanks so much for doing this. I remember Big/Lil' Sis week like it was yesterday! Susie McGee was the only Lil' Sis I wanted! I had to work hard to get her because someone else wanted her too!! I was so blessed to have her want me to be her Big Sis!! What a gift for God to give us both a relationship that has lasted a lifetime and only deepened in love, laughter, respect and admiration!!
I have a Little Sis that I love with my whole heart and soul and I am so proud of her!!! Please print this message from up here in Virginia to my precious Little Sis that I adore!!!
I love you, Sus!!!

How fun is THIS going to be?

Love ya,

Lori

  1. I don't know if my Big Sis was "eyeing" any of the other girls when choosing her Lil Sis or not, but I know that she was the only one I wanted. Vicki Price was, is, and always will be my Big Sis. She's not just a part of my BMC past, she is very much a part of my present and my future. We never once lost track of each other in all of the years since our BMC days. She's always been there for me ~ prayers, encouragement, support, sympathy, visits, EVERYTHING! I loved her and appreciated her when I was at BMC, but as I grow older, having her in my life has come to mean so much more. She's really gotten me through some difficult and sad times. When my mother was ill and dying, she came through Belmont to visit us even though it was not on her way to where she was going. When my mother-in-law was having surgery for pancreatic cancer, she showed up at the hospital! She is truly a God-send. Many of you say that your Big Sis is the absolute best, but I'm sorry to have to tell you that you're wrong because my Big Sis has claimed AND earned that top spot! Thanks a million for everything, Vicki, for all of these years! May God continue to bless you as you continue to be a blessing to everyone who has the priviledge of knowing you.

  2. This is a P.S......
I remember being so anxious as I awaited who would show up at my door that afternoon when the Big Sis's were reavealed. When I opened my door, all I could see was this HUGE bear. That bear took its rightful place in both of my daughters' nurseries and rooms as they were growing up and they always knew that someone very special had given it to me. Now, it's only fitting, that they, too, feel a very special closeness to my Big Sis, even tho' they don't have many opportunities to see her. She has been a part of my life all of these years, so she's been a part of their lives too.

  3. Big/Lil Sis – hummmm, lemme see…. Well, I was a commuter, as you'll recall and didn't get in on that gig until I "inherited" my Lil' Sis from another friend. So, I became Big Sis to RACHEL MAY MURFF, whom it has always been a delight to know and love. Rachel – ever smiling and encouraging in all her ways. Her entire family - her dad Bill, and certainly, her mom - Cleo, who led the elementary school in such a sterling fashion - were pillars in the community who both touched my life.
Having opportunity to see Rachel serving BMC as an admissions counselor and realizing the quality students she brought to The Hill through those years was a blessing.
Although she has moved "up Nawth" to the Washington DC area, it is a joy to hear from her through e-mails or phone calls and be refreshed by her sweet spirit and rich wit.
Yes, Big/Lil Sis is a swell program and I'm glad we are honoring that special, special relationship at HOMECOMING on THE HILL this spring.

  4. I remember how much I wanted Becky Stennett to pick me as her little sis. She was and is special to me and a big part of my BMC memories. Unfortunately, I haven't had much contact with her for a while. Becky, if you're out there, check in! Also, Sandra Perez was my twin little sis and I haven't heard from her since I left. June Pierce was my special little sis and I've kept in touch with her sporadically. Also, Bonnie Byrd was my adopted little sis and I had contact with her until a few years ago. Where are you Bonnie??? Would love to reconnect with all of you. I'm trying hard to make it to the homecoming this year. Sounds like great fun.
